Bob joins AGG as of counsel in the firm’s FDA and Healthcare practices, and is a member of the Dietary Supplements industry team. As a former acting Director and Deputy Director of the Office of Dietary Supplement Programs (ODSP) in the FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN), he brings a wealth of knowledge and insight to his legal practice. Just prior to joining ODSP, Bob was the acting Director of CFSAN’s Food Defense Staff. In this role, Bob led a dedicated group of professionals whose duty it was to determine the best regulatory strategies to help protect our nation’s food supply from intentional contamination.
Richard Cleland – FTC and Healthcare Practices. Of Counsel to Arnall Golden Gregory, LLP
Richard is Of Counsel at the law firm of Arnall Golden Gregory LLP. He has nearly thirty years of consumer protection experience. He joined the Iowa Attorney General’s Office in 1979 and was appointed Director of the Consumer Protection Division in 1984. Mr. Cleland joined the Federal Trade Commission in 1991. He served as Assistant Director of the Division of Advertising Practices from 2002 until 2022, when he retired. His special areas of concentration included substantiation of health claims and the use of endorsements and testimonials in advertising.
