WASHINGTON, DC – Natural Products Association (NPA) today submitted comments for the record regarding the Oregon Department of Justice’s proposed rule that would restrict health claims for nutritional supplements. The proposed rule is duplicative of federal law, would confuse consumers, raise costs for taxpayers, and do nothing to protect public health. NPA’s full testimony can be viewed here.
“If the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us anything, it is that nutritional supplements, such as Vitamin-C, that make health claims are an important element to supporting the healthy lifestyles of the American people. NPA believes the Proposed Rule depletes tax-payer resources and is unnecessary and duplicative as federal regulators already prevent companies from making false or misleading claims about a product,” said Daniel Fabricant, Ph.D., President and CEO of NPA.
NPA testified during a public hearing regarding the proposed rule on November 14, 2019.
